Climate change, driven by human activity, poses critical challenges on a global scale. The past decade has been the warmest on record, with climatic events impacting ecosystems and resource availability. According to the United Nations (UN), this phenomenon affects every nation and requires concerted action to mitigate its effects on development.
It is essential to limit global warming to 1.5°C, in accordance with the Paris Agreement; which entails halving emissions by 2030 through a transformation toward a climate-resilient economy. At Pacasmayo, we recognize this urgency and we are committed to a sustainable future, aligning our purpose with global objectives and the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action. In doing so, we integrate climate action into our strategy to contribute to well-being and the creation of a resilient environment.
We are aligned with the Peru Cement Industry Roadmap. This document is the result of the collaborative work between the Inter-American Cement Federation (FICEM) and the Association of Cement Producers (ASOCEM), outlining the path to reduce emissions in the cement industry and achieve the carbon neutrality that the world needs.
To achieve this, our strategy is deployed across three fundamental pillars. First, we seek to reduce the clinker factor by offering a wider range of blended cements; this allows us to optimize the clinker content in our products without compromising the company’s quality standards. Second, we promote the increase of co-processing at our Piura and Pacasmayo plants, starting with the use of biomass. Finally, we maintain a focus on the continuous improvement of energy efficiency across all our processes.
At Pacasmayo, we focus our actions on the decarbonization of the industry and the construction of a more sustainable future. This purpose aligns with the Peru – FICEM Roadmap: “Toward a Low-Carbon Economy,” developed by the Inter-American Cement Federation (FICEM) and the Association of Cement Producers (ASOCEM).
As active members of ASOCEM, we participate in the agreement signed with the Ministry of Production of Peru to drive the sector’s decarbonization. In this way, we contribute to the targets of the Cement Industry Roadmap to 2030, with the goal of reaching an intensity of 520 kg of CO₂ per ton of cementitious material. To ensure transparency, we measure our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for CO₂ emissions under the international standard'The Cement CO2 and Energy Protocol.
Additionally, we actively participate in the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) and FICEM. Through their technical committees, we collaborate on establishing guidelines, action plans, and projects to achieve the climate action targets proposed for 2030 and 2050. Through these efforts, we support the objectives of the Peruvian Cement Industry Roadmap and the country's commitment to climate action, providing the necessary resilience for development.
In 2023, we launched projects focused on climate sustainability by optimizing the clinkerization process using Kiln 4 at our Pacasmayo plant. As a result, we achieved greater thermal efficiency and eliminated emissions associated with clinker imports.
At Pacasmayo, we maintain a firm commitment to transparency and proactive climate action. To ensure the accuracy of our management, we utilize an internal Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculator which successfully passed its first external verification process in 2024. In 2025, we completed the second year of implementation and verification of this tool, thereby consolidating the Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) cycle.
This exercise is conducted under the ISO 14064: Greenhouse Gases standard, a framework that guarantees rigor in the management of our inventory. Furthermore, we participate in the Peru Carbon Footprint program of the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM). In this way, we reaffirm our transparency and coordination with government agencies in favor of sustainability.
Sustainability Leadership: First EPD in Peru
We are the first company in the country to obtain the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our Fortimax, Extraforte, and Type I cements. This certification, granted by AENOR under a "cradle-to-gate" approach, ensures transparency regarding the environmental impact of our products' life cycle. This achievement enables our clients to secure international certifications such as LEED and BREEAM, as well as the local Sustainable MiVivienda Bonus.
The development and growth of the construction sector involve more than erecting large structures; it requires comprehensive supply management to ensure projects come to life exceeding quality standards. This includes the efficient administration of a network of relationships and workflows with suppliers. A company's supply chain management is therefore critical because it helps prevent cost overruns and delays in processes, which in turn can positively impact the environment and society. It is thus surprising that supply chain management in 66% of companies in Peru are at an incipient stage, according to a 2021 EY study. At Pacasmayo, the supply chain plays a fundamental role in our value chain, allowing us to deliver on our promise of efficiency for our customers and society. For this reason, we pay special attention to key aspects such as innovation, sustainability in processes, and the value of human capital. By adopting innovative technologies and digitalization companies can have a more complete, real-time visibility of inventories, delivery routes and deadlines. It even allows companies to anticipate future requirements. Therefore, to effectively manage supply chains and optimize processes the industry should adopt systems such as Forecast Pro for Collaborative Forecasting, and implement advanced planning systems that consider multiple variables, scenario modeling systems, as well as end-to-end integrated procurement systems. Sustainability is another factor that is becoming increasingly important—not only because regulatory bodies demand more sustainable practices but also because customers and other interested stakeholders want to contribute to a responsible business legacy that genuinely benefits future generations. As part of our sustainability strategy towards 2030, we have established specific commitments and objectives within the framework of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. We apply these criteria to guide our supplier contracting decisions, also considering key aspects such as quality, adherence to deadlines, and delivery times. The human factor is equally crucial, enabling close collaboration among all supply chain actors, from suppliers to customers. Building long-term relationships based on ethics and trust is essential, as this can drive innovation and create a transparent work environment, critical for the comprehensive development of the sector. In line with our commitment to the sustainable growth of our suppliers, we created Crece+, a program aimed at strengthening the value chain in our areas of influence through the development of our suppliers whom we consider key allies. This initiative seeks to boost their growth and competitiveness while also promoting the adoption of good corporate practices. Since its launch, we have completed more than 150 academic hours of training, benefiting over 190 suppliers in Pacasmayo, Piura, Rioja, and other areas where we operate. By focusing on optimizing supply chains and responsibly adopting new technologies, companies can achieve more sustainable practices and promote effective collaboration with suppliers and subcontractors. This, in turn, positively impacts the quality of products, services, and construction solutions. Today, the supply chain has evolved from being a simple support process to becoming a key component of the overall business strategy driving both innovation and sustainability in the construction sector—a sector that requires businesses have EcoEfficient and transparent management as this will determine the development of the organization and the industry in the coming years.

El día de hoy, viernes 29 de agosto, al promediar las 13:10 horas se produjo un incidente dentro de las instalaciones de nuestra planta de producción de cemento ubicada en la localidad de Pacasmayo, específicamente en una de las fajas que transporta el material proveniente del horno de calcinación hacia el silo de almacenamiento de dicho material (clinker). Una inesperada baja de tensión produjo el sobrecalentamiento de dicha faja de transporte, la misma que al ser de material de caucho, rápidamente generó fuego localizado en la misma faja, deteriorándola por completo. Este incidente produjo una humareda que se prolongó por un espacio aproximado de 35 minutos. Nuestro personal actuó rápidamente y aplicó nuestros protocolos de seguridad y atención de emergencias, por lo que, en este momento, dicho incidente ha sido completamente controlado y hemos verificado que no ha generado ningún tipo de daño personal entre los trabajadores, ni ningún otro daño material en las instalaciones de la planta. Tampoco ha generado la interrupción de nuestras operaciones. Nuestro personal de mantenimiento está trabajando en estos momentos en el reemplazo de la faja y en el reaseguramiento de los controles pertinentes que permitan evitar la ocurrencia de cualquier otro tipo de incidente de esta naturaleza. Sin perjuicio de que el incidente ha sido controlado en su totalidad, nuestra empresa ratifica su compromiso con la transparencia, en línea con lo informado a través de este comunicado.
