Evolución sostenible: Pacasmayo lanza cemento con menor impacto en el medioambiente que los cementos tradicionales

  • Cementos Pacasmayo promotes the use of more sustainable construction materials to reduce the carbon footprint of construction projects. Ultra Armado HE cement offers an eco-friendlier alternative to traditional Type I cement.

Climate change and natural disasters are affecting an increasing number of people worldwide and the urgency to build sustainable and resilient cities has never been greater. In Peru, the challenge is particularly significant, with an infrastructure gap of $90.734 billion estimated for the 2021–2025 period, according to a study by the School of Public Management of Universidad del Pacífico, commissioned by the Association for the Promotion of National Infrastructure (AFIN).

Given this reality, critically assessing the materials used to construct urban spaces is vital. Prioritizing eco-efficient alternatives that significantly reduce environmental impact is essential for fostering sustainable urban development. In this context, Cementos Pacasmayo has expanded its Eco-Efficient portfolio with the launch of Ultra Armado HE cement, a more environmentally friendly alternative than traditional Type I cement.

Ultra Armado HE helps contribute to the construction industry's decarbonization by incorporating less clinker—a key cement component whose production generates substantial CO2 emissions. This innovation allows an approximate saving of 5% of CO2 emissions compared to traditional Type I cement, the most widely used cement in Peru. Moreover, it is compatible with this cement in terms of high initial strength and versatility in construction applications. Ultra Armado HE not only ensures quality and durability but also promotes environmental sustainability.

The quality of Ultra Armado HE has been rigorously tested and validated by the Portland Cement Association (PCA), ensuring its superior performance across various applications. It is particularly suited for precast products, including columns, roofs, and foundations.

Cementos Pacasmayo reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by aligning with the 2030 Cement Industry Roadmap, which advocates for reducing CO2 emissions and transitioning toward a low-carbon economy. “We are proud to offer a product that meets the highest quality standards while contributing to CO2 reduction in the construction industry. By reducing the use of clinker, we are actively supporting the creation of more sustainable and resilient cities in Peru and the region,” stated Lorena Cabrera, Strategic Marketing Manager at Cementos Pacasmayo.

The Ultra Armado HE cement was introduced during the online seminar “Eco-Efficient Construction in Peru: Pursuing Low Environmental Impact with Quality,” featuring Gabriel Mansilla, Climate Change Superintendent at Cementos Pacasmayo; Lorena Cabrera, Strategic Marketing Manager at Cementos Pacasmayo; and Ana Lucía Granda, General Manager of Leaf. The event emphasized the importance of educating consumers on using eco-efficient products and highlighted the need to encourage responsible material choices to reduce the construction industry's carbon footprint.
