Cementos Pacasmayo was incorporated in Lima, Peru in 1949, by a group of private investors to serve the cement market in Northern Peru. The Hochschild Group acquired its initial ownership interest in Cementos Pacasmayo in 1956. Below are key developments in the Company’s history.

In 1957, Cementos Pacasmayo began operations with the installation of the Company’s first clinker line with an installed production capacity of approximately 110,000 metric tons per year. In 1966 and 1977, Cementos Pacasmayo added a second and third clinker line, respectively, increasing installed clinker production capacity to approximately 830,000 metric tons per year.

In 1995, Cementos Pacasmayo initiated a distribution network to market and distribute the Company’s products throughout Northern Peru. During that same year, Pacasmayo also listed its common shares on the Lima Stock Exchange, under the ticker “CPACASC1.”

 In 1998, Cementos Pacasmayo acquired from the Peruvian government a facility in Rioja located in Northeastern Peru. At the time, the Rioja facility had one clinker line with an installed cement production capacity of approximately 35,000 metric tons per year.

In 2003, Cementos Pacasmayo acquired Zemex Corporation, a U.S. company engaged in non-metallic mining and industrial activities in the United States and Canada, which was sold in 2007 via a series of transactions.

In 2009, Cementos Pacasmayo created Fosfatos del Pacífico S.A. to explore phosphate rock deposits from the Company’s concession at Bayóvar in Northern Peru.

In 2010, Cementos Pacasmayo reported an aggregate total installed cement production capacity of 3.1 million at the Pacasmayo and Rioja facilities and completed the conversion of the Company’s Waelz kiln, retrofitting it to produce quicklime or calcine zinc interchangeably. During 2010, Pacasmayo also sold its copper mining concessions, “Minas Rual” in Central Peru,” which were previously leased to a third party for US$28.0 million.

In 2011, Cementos Pacasmayo, together with Quimpac, created Salmueras, Peru’s largest chemical company to develop brine deposits in the two companies’ combined fields in the Piura coastal region in Northern Peru.

In December 2011, Cementos Pacasmayo agreed to sell a minority equity interest in Fosfatos to an affiliate of Mitsubishi to develop its phosphate deposits in the Bayóvar fields, in the northwest of Peru.
